Universal peace can be attained only by selfrespect and desobedience to state requiring taxes and military service for organised violence and murder. Следствием декларации будут слова. Всеобщий мир может быть достигнут только самоуважением и неповиновением государству, требующему податей и военной службы для организованного насилия и убийства. Примечания Телеграмма печатается по копии, вложенной в письмо к В. Г. Черткову от 30 сентября 1898 г. (см. т. 88). Датируется на основании даты телеграммы газеты «The Sunday World», вызвавшей ответ Толстого, и времени опубликования ответа Толстого в названной газете — 4 сентября нов. ст.
