Рассмотрены систематика и распространение живоглотовых рыб рода Pseudoscopelus. Тринадцать видов этого рода признаны валидными, из них два (P. albeolus Prokofiev et Kukuev и P. vityazi Prokofiev spp. n.) описаны как новые, хотя можно предполагать существование большего количества еще неописанных видов. P. albeolus sp. n. представляется близко родственным надвиду “P. astronesthidens”, но отличается от всех известных видов рода однотонно белесой окраской тела и фотофоров. P. vityazi sp. n. представляется наиболее близким к P. altipinnis, но отличается от всех известных видов рода наличием желобообразных полос светящейся ткани вместо серийных фотофоров. Номинальный род Myersiscus Fowler, 1934 является синонимом Pseudoscopelus, а вид P. microps Fowler, 1934 синонимизирован с P. altipinnis Parr, 1933. Обсужден статус недавно описанного P. pierbartus Spitz et al., 2007; он признан species inquerenda и nomen dubium, но, по-видимому, является синонимом P. scriptus или P. sagamianus. Рассмотрены изменчивость и диагностическая значимость признаков, важных для выделения видов Pseudoscopelus. Дан ревизованный ключ для определения видов.

Список птиц Российской Федерации, подготовленный Инициативной группой при Мензбировском орнитологическом обществе, включает все виды и подвиды птиц, достоверно зарегистрированные на ныне входящей в Российскую Федерацию территории, за весь период орнитологических наблюдений. Результаты анализа многочисленных литературных источников и коллекционных материалов позволили подтвердить или уточнить статус большинства отмеченных в России форм. Для видов и подвидов, не относящихся к обычной гнездовой авифауне, приводятся ссылки на источники информации. В списке фигурируют 1334 географических форм птиц, относящихся к 789 видам. Из них современную гнездовую фауну составляют 657 видов. Залётными, встречающимися на сезонных миграциях или зимовках признано 111 видов, вымершими или исчезнувшими с территории России – 7 видов. Не менее 14 видов сохраняют неопределённый статус. В авифауну России включено 20 видов, новых для территории бывшего СССР. Птицы, регистрации которых в пределах России признаны недостаточно достоверными или ошибочными, вынесены в дополнительный список, насчитывающий 49 видов. Согласно результатам таксономических ревизий форм видового и родового ранга, фауна России пополнилась 27 видами и обеднела на 2 вида. Для 36 представителей отечественной фауны изменена научная видовая номенклатура. Заменено 26 названий родового ранга, относящихся к 44 видам. Значительные коррективы претерпела классификация таксонов подвидового ранга. Для представителей авифауны бывшего СССР предложено заменить, уточнить или ввести в употребление более 130 русских названий. В отдельном приложении дан перечень видов, зарегистрированных в странах СНГ и Балтии, но не входящих в фауну России. С учётом этого приложения, авифауна Северной Евразии (в границах бывшего СССР) составляет сейчас 875 видов.

Allegory in Early Greek Philosophy examines the role that allegory plays in Greek thought, particularly in the transition from the mythic tradition of the archaic poets to the philosophical traditions of the Presocratics and Plato. It explores how a mode of speech that «says one thing, but means another» is integral to philosophy, which otherwise seeks to achieve clarity and precision in its discourse. By providing the early Greek thinkers with a way of defending and appropriating the poetic wisdom of their predecessors, allegory enables philosophy to locate and recover its own origins in the mythic tradition. Allegory allows philosophy simultaneously to move beyond mythos and express the whole in terms of logos, a rational account in which reality is represented in a more abstract and universal way than myth allows.

Wenn man von hier aus aufs Meer schaut und die fr?hlichen Menschen am Strand sieht, kann man sich nicht vorstellen, dass auch eine sehr h?ssliche Seite dieser Stadt existiert. Du bist der erste, der danach fragt und ich glaube, auch der letzte. Mein Leben war wirklich schlecht und dass ich noch nicht den Abflug gemacht und mich umgebracht habe, ist ein Wunder. The deep sea covers over 60% of the surface of the earth, yet less than 1% has been scientifically investigated. There is growing pressure on deep-sea resources and on researchers to deliver information on biodiversity and the effects of human impacts on deep-sea ecosystems. The rural is not what it used to be. No longer simply a site for agricultural production for the city, the relationship between the rural and urban has become much more complex. Established categories such as rural /urban and village/city no longer hold true. Rural and urban conditions have become increasingly blurred, so how can we identify and distinguish their specific characteristics? Where is the rural, and what role does it play in an urbanised world? In developing countries the countryside is a volatile and contradictory landscape: legally designated rural areas look like dense slums; factories intersect fields and farmers no longer farm. In contrast, in developed regions, the rural has become a highly controlled landscape of production and consumption: industrialised agriculture coexists with leisure landscapes for tourism, retirement and recreation.
