""A Kidnapped Santa Claus"" is a Christmas-themed short story by American writer L. Frank Baum; it has been called «„one of Baum's most beautiful stories“» and constitutes an influential contribution to the mythology of Christmas. ""A Kidnapped Santa Claus"" was first published in the December 1904 edition of The Delineator, the women's magazine that would print Baum's Animal Fairy Tales in the following year. The magazine text was «„admirably illustrated“» with «„pen drawings of marked originality“» by Frederick Richardson, who would illustrate Baum's Queen Zixi of Ix in 1905. The story opens with a quick overview of Santa's castle in the Laughing Valley. Santa lives in the Laughing Valley on the border of the Forest of Burzee, and is assisted by knooks, ryls, fairies, and pixies. Its focus soon switches to the five Caves of the Daemons in nearby (though unnamed) mountains. These creatures are pagan daemons rather than Christian demons, in that they are not servants of Satan or necessarily evil. Four of the five, the Daemons of Selfishness, Envy, Hatred, and Malice, certainly are bad, but the fifth, the Daemon of Repentance, is a more ambiguous figure. A newly discovered, diverse sponge fauna of early Silurian age, is described from Gotland, Sweden. This is the first Silurian sponge assemblage known from Baltica, and the only diverse Llandoverian assemblage known worldwide. The fauna includes 20 genera and 29 species, of which three genera and six species are new. Eighteen species are new to Baltica. The fauna shows strong similarities to later Silurian assemblages in Arctic Canada, but one endemic species comprises ca. 50% of the fauna. The fauna shows that lithistid sponges recovered well from the late Ordovician extinction in some areas, and became widely spread in the early Silurian. In contrast, non-lithistid sponges like, such as hexactinellids, appear to have evolved rapidly during the Late Ordovician – early Silurian interval, and some modern groups probably originated in inshore habitats.

We commonly assume that shopping is primarily concerned with individuals and materialism. Auch das von Arendt so genannte j?dische Establishment in den USA und in Israel organisierte gegen die Autorin eine regelrechte Kampagne. Monatelang erschienen in Zeitungen und Zeitschriften kritische Artikel und Aufs?tze. Die deutsche Ausgabe wollten ihre Gegner verhindern. Sie behaupteten, das Buch richte in Deutschland gro?en Schaden an und lasse Nazismus und Antisemitismus wieder aufleben.
Arendts kritische Darstellung der Anklagevertretung, ihre Bedenken gegen die Instrumentalisierung des Prozesses durch die Ben-Gurion-Regierung, ihre Kritik an der »j?dischen F?hrung« zur Zeit der sogenannten »Endl?sung der Judenfrage«, ihre Ausf?hrungen zur »Kooperation« der Judenr?te mit den deutschen M?rdern, ihr von Eichmann gezeichnetes Bild, den sie einen »Hanswurst« nannte, l?sten Emp?rung aus. In der Bundesrepublik stie? ihre Darstellung des deutschen Widerstands, ihre Beurteilung der inzwischen verehrten »M?nner des 20. Juli«, auf Ablehnung. Unbeachtet blieb indes Arendts vehemente Kritik am Adenauer-Staat, an der unzureichenden justiziellen Aufarbeitung der NS-Verbrechen, an der verlogenen Geschichtspolitik von »Nach-Hitler-Deutschland«. Arendt sprach von der »unbew?ltigten Vergangenheit« von Deutschen und Juden. Ein Thema, das heute noch zur Debatte steht.

Nur allzu gerne war man darum bereit, dem prophetisierenden Gebell des ehemaligen Kleinb?rgers aus dem ?sterreichischen Waldviertel zu glauben und diesem willig Gefolgschaft zu leisten. Erst das „Unternehmen Barbarossa“, der ?berfall auf den B?ndnispartner Sowjetunion, erwies sich als folgenschwerer Fehler und brachte die Wende zum unaufhaltsamen Untergang des Dritten Reichs. Die fabrikm??ige, rationalisierte und effiziente Menschenvernichtung in Vernichtungslagern wie Auschwitz oder Majdanek ist in der Menschheitsgeschichte einzigartig. „Endl?sung der Judenfrage“ und „S?uberung“ sind Begriffe des Terrorregimes des Dritten Reichs.
