J?ngste Studien ergeben, dass in der Schweiz in rund 60 Prozent aller F?lle Menschen erst sterben, nachdem entsprechende medizinische Lebensende-Entscheidungen gef?llt worden sind, also Entscheide, dass man sie sterben l?sst, obwohl man sie noch weiter durch entsprechende Massnahmen am Leben erhalten k?nnte. Selbstbestimmtes Sterben ist heute folglich der neue Normalfall des Sterbens geworden. Er stellt sich t?glich bei Betroffenen, ihren Angeh?rigen und den behandelnden Personen in Spit?lern, Heimen und Hospizen.
Trotzdem ist in der gegenw?rtigen Situation das selbstbestimmte Sterben ein Thema, das oft wie ein Tabu behandelt wird und viel zu wenig Aufmerksamkeit erh?lt. Auch gibt es dazu nur wenig Literatur.
